Makeup tip to help curl your lashes

Were you at the end of the line when they were handing out curly lashes? Not only was I at the end of that line but they also thought it would be a great idea to make them short as well. I have tried lash curlers, Perming, extensions you name it. I find the easiest thing to do is when you apply a coat of mascara, place your fingers against your lash and gently curl them up for 30 seconds then when they dry apply one or two more coats and do the finger curl for the last coat again. This curls them better than a lash curler and can be done anywhere.

Lipstick Friday

I declare it lipstick Friday.
I have been doing makeup for 17 years and its only been in the last two years that I've had the courage to wear bright colored lips. A lot of women don't have the courage to wear bright pinks, oranges or reds but we need to celebrate our femininity, so join me in celebrating lipstick Fridays. Get the girls at work, your best friends and just go for it.

Makeup - translucent powder isn't just for Grandma

I don't know how many times I've gone to put powder on a clients face and they have freaked out because they think its only for the oldies. If your using a liquid, a mousse or a grease stick you need to put it on. Your eyeshadow is a powder base and most of the time so is your blush. If you put foundation on then put eyeshadow on it will grab to your skin and you can't blend it properly. If you dust on some powder first, then your eyeshadow and blush will glide on smoothly because they are both a type of powder.

Makeup tips - foundation

You know what it's like when you have a favourite foundation and from different seasons, especially from spring to summer, it can appear darker on your face because the rest of your body has been hidden with big jumpers and long pants for months. I have had this problem myself, you put it on and there is a noticeable difference from your face to your neck. A great tip is after you apply it put a little bit of moisturizer on your fingers and rub around your jaw area down your neck and the colour will blend in a lot better rather than having that horrible line stuck at your jaw. You can also add a little bit of moisturizer in the foundation before you apply it to soften the intensity.

Crazy cat

I've never been a cat lover and as a matter of fact I think I disliked them very much. For some strange reason in my mid forties I decided that I had to have not one but two of them, so my family and I became the proud owners of two four week old male kittens ( we have four daughters so they were the boys we always wanted). They were so cute and fluffy. One of them named Charlie
nickname Chuckles, is so strange but adorable. He sleeps on our bed and when we keep the door closed he cries and head butts the door until we open it so he can jump on our bed. He is a very cuddly cat but only when he wants to be and even though he has such a cute face he also looks and acts so dumb, like when he jumps in our pantry and we don't know he's there until hours after when we hear some banging noise and its him needing help to get out. Don't get me wrong we love him to death but he is thick as a brick.

Every girls dream

It's not a bad life when you get to come to work everyday and play with makeup. From styling a clients outfits, doing their hair and makeup and taking their photos.
This is what I do everyday.
I have been a makeup artist and hairstylist for 17 years and a photographer for 4 years. My love is for the quirky people, the ones that will step outside the box to discover their wild side, the go crazy with me attitudes - this is what I love.

Relaxing on a Sunday

I'm relaxing in the breeze in my backyard with a glass of red. My husband is sharing a hammock with me as we laugh at our kids throwing tomatoes down the side of our house but they have such a bad aim that they're hitting the neighbours roof (hope she isn't home, we haven't met her yet). It's so good to get everyone away from the tv and mobile phones and just enjoy being outside. Remember doing that.

my love of the walking dead

When it came time to design my next piece of art, I thought about how popular zombies are at the moment especially with the tv show The Walking Dead.
So not wanting to create blood and guts, I designed a zombie bride instead and here she is...

That arty thing I do

I've always had a creative mind.  I come up with great ideas -  some I start and don't finish, others I finish when I push myself.  My brain never stops thinking about what I can do next.
I finally started to create some paper art pieces that I'm really proud of, enjoy doing and would you believe, am also selling.
